About

More Interesting Information:

Though she might prefer to spend her waking hours reading in a cozy castle library, Dr. Vicky Gilpin generally stays enclosed by the cornfields of the Midwest. There, she actually divides her time between teaching at a rural high school (starting her 25th year Fall 2024!) or sitting on the couch telling her dogs repeatedly what good babies they are, as they require a lot of positive reinforcement. The cats just want her to stay out of their way while they control the world, knock items off of counters, or nap, preferably on the books and papers she needs next. Vicky used to write papers and present at national conferences on a variety of topics: literary analysis, pedagogy, vampires, or neurodivergence, to name a few; she also enjoyed going to DragonCon, as well as traveling to unfamiliar places with her husband, but Long-Covid has put a damper on those activities for several years. However, she’s started putting together some hopeful itineraries for the future!

She also earned a Master’s of Extension Studies in Liberal Arts in the area of Humanities with a concentration in English through Harvard University Extension School, where she was honored to receive the Thomas Small Prize.
